Four Seasons Series
The Four Seasons monotype series captures the essence of nature’s cyclical transformation through dynamic color and expressive abstraction. Each piece in the series distills the mood and energy of a season, using layered textures to evoke the shifting landscapes. The fluid nature of monotype printing allows for spontaneous compositions, where pigments merge and interact unpredictably, much like the changing seasons themselves.
Spring bursts forth with fresh, translucent greens and soft yellows, evoking new growth and blossoming life. The colors feel airy and light, punctuated with hints of deeper greens that suggest the stirring of vitality. Summer, in contrast, radiates heat and intensity with bold oranges, saturated blues, and fiery reds. There’s a sense of movement, as if the colors themselves vibrate with the warmth of the sun and the lush fullness of nature at its peak.
Autumn’s palette shifts to burnt siennas, deep golds, and rich burgundies, reflecting the crisp air and the quiet descent into dormancy. The textures become more pronounced, mimicking the roughness of falling leaves and the decay of organic matter. Finally, Winter pares everything back to stark contrasts—icy blues, muted grays, and deep, velvety blacks. Negative space and soft diffusions of color suggest a quiet stillness, the world temporarily suspended in cold repose. Together, the four monotypes form a vibrant dialogue, celebrating the seasons’ endless cycle through color and form.
